Sports Physiotherapy and Physiotherapy

Here at beyondphysio we are concerned with your function, movement and maximising your potential. We use proven diagnostic and treatment techniques which involve manual therapy, soft tissue techniques and a variety of methods to decrease your pain and quickly increase your function.

Human movement is produced by the fine tuning of input and output from the joints, the muscles and the nervous system. When we injure ourselves and feel pain we disrupt this fine tuned symphony. This causes changes in the way we move resulting in compensatory patterns of movement that become the norm if not addressed.

In every physiotherapy session at beyondphysio we take this into account. We are experts at addressing the underlying issues that result in your pain, restriction in movement and function.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is a profession concerned with injury prevention and the maintenance of function by stretching and manipulating muscle and connective tissue. Our sports massage therapists work closely with our physiotherapists in order to provide ongoing support after soft tissue injury whether acute or chronic. However, sports massage therapy is not only for athletes who use it for pre and post event treatment. Sports massage therapy is for anyone who is experiencing everyday levels of stress and strain. The benefits of sports massage are accumulative, as regular treatments allow you to train to your full potential and recover optimally. Our Sports Massage therapist Charlotte is also trained in Active Release Techniques which is a patented release technique that can instantly release tension in over tight muscles

 Sports Injury Management

Our state of the art sports injury management programmes progress you through a three step process using hands on physiotherapy and specific clinical exercise for return to sport.

Control: Muscle control is lost with injury. This means that the ability to contract the correct muscles with the correct force at the correct time is lost.

Strength: Once you have addressed the ability to control the correct muscles we progress you to the strength stage of your rehabilitation.

Performance: This stage involves dynamic activities that strengthen the injured area in controlled ways that are similar to your sport.

Lower Limb Biomechanical Assessment

Our lower limb biomechanical assessment is designed for people who are experiencing lower limb or foot pain such as joint pain, heel pain, pins needles and numbness, arch pain or for those who want to excel in athletic performance. Our Podiatrist / Physiotherapist will complete a detailed biomechanical assessment of your lower limb and function, identifying the factors that are causing or contributing to your pain. This assessment may include video analysis of you walking, running or performing those activities that cause you problems. After your diagnosis, our team will treat your injury using a variety of techniques and may recommend the use of special insoles or orthotics.
