The Triangular Fibrocartilage complex lies between the ular and the carpus (the inside of the wrist and arm with the hand on its back flat on a table in front of you). This structure can be damaged with compressive forces directed through the wrist in sports such as gymnastics, golf, and racquet sports. Physiotherapy treatment includes protective bracing, strengthening when able and electrotherapy modalities. Surgery may be required to remove any areas of cartilage that are catching, causing pain and is normally performed arthroscopically if conservative treatment is unsuccessful.
